Where is my data stored?
All entries are stored locally on your device. There are no accounts, no cloud, and no data collection. Your thoughts never leave your device unless you choose to export or activate the optional cloud backup (premium).
Can I export my entries?
Yes. You can export your data anytime via Settings and create a backup. Importing works just as easily – your journal always belongs to you.
Why can't I edit older entries?
Entries are intentionally only editable for a short time. The idea is to preserve the authentic feeling of the moment. With the premium upgrade, you get an extended edit mode.
What's included in premium?
A single purchase – no subscription – unlocks all premium features: cloud backup, app lock with Face ID or fingerprint, reminders, and full edit mode. On Apple devices, you also get seamless sync across all your devices.
I switched devices – how do I get my entries back?
If you had cloud backup (premium) activated, your entries will be automatically restored on the new device. Alternatively, you can export your data beforehand and import it on the new device.
What does the notice mean when I write an entry?
Happy Journal includes a gentle, word-based check. If an entry seems difficult, the app pauses to check in with you. It’s not a judgement – just a small act of mindfulness. You can disable this feature anytime in Settings.
Can I protect my entries with additional security?
Yes. In Settings, you can enable Face ID or fingerprint authentication – depending on what your device supports. This way, your entries are additionally protected and only you can read them. This feature is part of the premium upgrade.
Does Happy Journal work on tablets?
Yes. Happy Journal is optimised for smartphones and tablets and available for iOS and Android.
